LEARN THE DRUMS!

 

Based in Mersea, Essex I have been teaching players of all ages and abilities for 12 years and love nothing more than watching my students progress towards their goals on the instrument and progress as well rounded musicians!

The Drums are a fun, challenging , and exciting instrument for anybody to learn and can be a fantastic outlet for creativity, self-confidence, discipline and above all inspire! 

Drum kit & percussion have been present in almost every form of music you can think of and offer a modern outlet for students to develop a connection with music and express themselves.

I have run my own 1-1 tuition service  for the past 13 years working directly with schools in London and Essex, and also teaching on a private basis in students homes, as well as working as a Drum Kit tutor for Essex Music Services in schools and music centres across the region.

ONLINE TUITION

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic I have been offering 1-1 online tuition successfully via zoom. They work very much the same as face to face lessons, except you learn from your own home! 

My studio is equipped with a fully mic'd drum kit, so students can continue to learn with clarity and keep improving their skills using their laptops or tablets.

 

Learning online also means no geographical barriers! 

I have taught students from all over the UK, Europe, and North America with great success and have continued to prepare students for their graded examinations online.

MY ETHOS

 

Firstly my teaching philosophy is to make the lessons a fun place to play, learn, and work hard. I want students to leave the room smiling and itching to practice and better themselves not only in their lessons but in their own time too. 
Enjoyment is key, no matter the level of aims of each student, and I always build my lessons around activities that will instill solid technique in a way that is relevant and inspires them to play.

The Drum Kit being the incredibly versatile instrument that it is means that I always like to explore all musical styles with my students to give them a wider appreciation of their instrument and also music as a whole.

I like to cover all essential technical aspects of playing such as rudiments, reading music notation, improvisation, as well as working on developing a musicality (sometimes overlooked with the drums!), and I like to do it in a way that is relevant and exciting for my students.

WHERE

​

I am based in West Mersea, Essex, and teach lessons from my own studio. 

The studio is equipped with two acoustic drum kits (one for me and one for the students) and parking is available at the front of the property for the duration of lessons. 

​

I currently possess a 100% pass rate with all students entered for Trinity and Rockschool exams.
